Visit the world of Heineken
Everyone in the world knows the brand Heineken. The blonde lager is sold worldwide. Amsterdam has always been a true beer city. Long ago there was no clean drinking water available. During the brewing process water and malted barley are heated, killing harmful bacteria. Around the year 1500 there were around 20 breweries troughout Amsterdam. In 1864, Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought the brewery De Hooiberg in the city centre. His business grew and soon Heineken moved into a new building on the outskirts of the city, now the Stadhouderskade. These days, the beer is produced elsewhere and the historic brewery houses the Heineken Experience, among the top five most-visited attractions of Amsterdam. Here you can experience the dynamic world of Heineken in an interactive tour. Follow the entire brewing process, including the large copper kettles, in the authentic interior. All your senses will be stimulated, including your taste buds: the entrance fee includes beers for everyone from 18 years and older.
